The Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) in Tigray during the 2020 to 2022 study period was 835 per 100,000 live births. Mortality ratios exceeding 1000 per 100,000 live births were recorded in several districts: Ofla (1099), Abergelle Yechila (1306), Tahtay Koraro (1381), Kola Tembien (1451), Emba Seneyti (1488), Tahtay Adiabo (1575), Zana (1859), Seharti (1932), and Neksege (3636). The record in Neksege is the highest and more than four times higher than the mean MMR.
