Neonatal mortality from Tigray’s DHIS2 system 2017_EFY

The neonatal mortality data extracted from Tigray's DHIS2 system for the Ethiopian calendar year 2017 shows notable monthly fluctuations, with the highest rate occurring in Hidar (5.19 deaths per 1,000 live births) and consistently lower rates in months like Megabit (0.48) and Yekatit (0.79). The overall average for the 10 reported months is 1.67 per 1,000, which may indicate seasonal variability, reporting inconsistencies, or differential access to neonatal care across time. These findings are critical for health policy and planning, suggesting deeper investigation into service delivery bottlenecks, early newborn care practices, and community-level referral systems. This dataset offers researchers and decision-makers a foundation for identifying intervention windows and improving maternal and child health strategies in post-conflict settings.
