The HPV positivity rate among women aged 39–49 in Tigray, based on DHIS2 data for 2017 EC, reveals striking monthly variation and potential data gaps. This indicator-calculated by dividing the number of women who tested positive for HPV by the total screened in the age group each month and multiplying by 100-peaked dramatically in Tahesas (100%) and Tir (74.9%), with other months showing significantly lower rates ranging from 6.5% to 24.0%, and a year-end average of 29.9%. Missing values in Hidar and Sene raise concerns about reporting consistency and data completeness. Such volatility may reflect localized screening efforts or inconsistencies in data entry, all of which warrant validation. For decision makers, these findings underscore the urgency of strengthening routine screening coverage, ensuring accurate reporting systems, and targeting high-risk groups with integrated HPV and cervical cancer prevention strategies.
