linkage to antiretroviral therapy (ART) among newly identified HIV-positive individuals in Tigray for 2017 EC

The proportion of linkage to antiretroviral therapy (ART) among newly identified HIV-positive individuals in Tigray for 2017 EC was calculated by dividing the number of people who enrolled in ART by the number of newly diagnosed HIV cases each month, then multiplying by 100 to obtain a percentage. According to DHIS2 data, linkage rates varied from 58.18% in Tahesas to as high as 77.19% in Genbot, with a peak also observed in Miazia (76.27%), reflecting strong referral performance in those months. The lowest linkage occurred in Tahesas, potentially signaling gaps in case management or patient tracking. The overall average for the reported months was 66.52%, suggesting that while progress has been made in initiating timely treatment, consistent follow-through remains essential for maximizing ART coverage and minimizing care drop-off in newly diagnosed populations.
